Welcome to Bleecker St!

My name is Michaela S. Smith, and I am a licensed psychotherapist with extensive experience working with individuals, couples, and adolescents. I live in NoHo with my husband, daughters (one feline, one human) and son (canine).

My credentials:

I received my BA in Cognitive Science from the University of Virginia and my MA in Counseling and Clinical Psychology from New York University.

Before becoming a psychotherapist, I worked as a Senior Researcher at Columbia University’s Department of Psychiatry under the direction of Professors Alice Medalia, PhD, and Alice Saperstein, PhD. My research focused on early auditory processing in schizophrenia and cognitive remediation.

My practice:

I take pride in providing the best possible care, as reflected by my five-star rating on ZocDoc, during hours that make sense for the busy New Yorker who cannot see therapists weekdays from 9-5. I am regularly available for appointments on weekends and evenings.

All I ask is that you respect my time and provide at least 24 hours of advance notice before canceling a session. A $100 fee will be charged for any cancellation within that time period.

Costs:

Out of pocket/No insurance:
$150/hr, payable in cash or Venmo
We also take most major insurance

My beliefs:

I truly believe that therapy is important for everyone, and I consider each of my clients a partner in their own self-growth. I look forward to helping you uncover insights and strategies tailor-made for your unique path!
